Hi Guys, as it was mentioned wanted to post some pics of my chaos, this army is very unfinished - i have several quite cool bits i want to do to finish it off.

I plan on making a go at finishing these off over the next few months - along with finishing my vampires. A lot of work to do i must admit!

Anyway the theme - chaos... always liked the dark forboding evil look, i was very concious to painting a dark army for people to take notice of it, so i decided to use snow basing... yes the trick to get your army noticed ;)

Anyway i wanted them also to look undivided, i didnt know what marks would be worth taking so i decided i would paint them pretty generic so i could mix and match.

Image

My chosen unit - first unit i finished, love these guys went for some different varations on the bone and the metal where i used a similar blue grey highlight colour to give all the colours a cold look and unify the scheme - the weapons had frostbite mixed into mithril for the final highlight giving them a cold look.

Image

Love this unit and the banner im pretty happy with! took my freehand a bit further and tried somthing a bit more ambitious again was on a tight time limit and rushed the design

Image

Think this guy is cool - not overly happy with the design on the baner may repaint it when i re visit the army. - ive since done a BSB on foot who i think is a lot better.

Image

Image

This model is fantastic, i didnt want to convert it, just wanted to paint it - i used it at the masters and since he hasnt been out, but i think he may be seeing the battle field even more when the army is finished because i love this guy.

Image

Another model i always wanted to paint - not overly happy with how dark he turned out, pleased with the horse however.

Image

Bit of an experiment with this guy - this was when i was finalising colours and such - second model done for the army. Think hes pretty cool

I have some exciting conversions for this army in the pipeline - when they are done i will post them up.

Russ

Awe inspiring stuff! Both these and your vamps are brilliantly executed, I'll be pretty chuffed if I can ever have an army looking that good, love the banners and the general theme running throughout, just a really high across the board standard.. if this is what happens when you rush things I'd love to see what happens when you take your time :) What technique/mix did you use on your snow if I may ask?

Rather than clogging the board I'll drool about the vamps here as well, love the skin tones, and that graveguard unit is just spot on!

Thanks m8 - the snow is a devious mix of...

GW snow flock and pva - mix it into a paste paint it on then lightly sprinkle some snow flock on top when its wet... thats it

i tried out all this using baking soda, mixing in white paint and a touch of blue etc etc but it just didnt look as good and was more time consuming

The result when i dont paint to a deadline (ie a tournament) it probably would never get finished... sad as that is, i suppose i should clarify rushed - painted to a deadline and usually ive had to make some concessions on the models quality to get the project done.

I have been pretty inspired by wayne and dan as usual when we start going on about painting projects and such and i think im at the stage where i want to concerntrate on some bits and make them a real labour of love something ive never really done along with sculpting and suchlike - think ill start with a black knight unit for my undead for some sculpting practice.

I've seen elements of this army up close at Bristol and the pictures do not do it justice. The painting quality if very high. Where are the pics of the rest of the army Russ?

I demand more pictures, I'm still overcome with jealousy whenever I look at this thread :)

Thanks it means a lot - i am not happy with those photos but i have not had time to sit down and learn how to do it properly - plus need some better equipment.

The rest either is unfinished or i have not photographed it - you will be pleased to know the new bits will be getting finished and the army will / should be done by end of the year. Going to finish this before i embark on the tomb king project.

Of course pictures will be posted here once i find my feet at my new place and start churning out units.

Good grief, how good do these look?

Not really took the time to look at these before. Once the whole army is done it'll look awesome.

Slightly of topic here, but do you know of a cheaper place to order tzeentch disc guys than the GW online store? I've got to get some chars sorted some time in the near future and I'm trying to stretch my funds :)

Just to keep it more on topic, what else is there in the army?

Well i was testing the list at begining of the year using old minis, quickly painting bits to fill the gaps and also just doing what i wanted to paint... hence the jugger guy rarely fits into my army list as hes a whopping 230pts

But basicly things i need to build and paint

10 chaos knights - need to decide on command
10 marauder horsemen
10 chaos hounds
war shrine
hell cannon

then i need to do 2 wizards on discs and a wizard on foot and also in future things i want to do

4 dragon ogres
Dragon ridden by a sorcerer
Some forsaken... just for the modelling
4 Chaos ogres

and i have a whacky idea for a GT army with 10 trolls and throgg etc but i doubt this will ever get done.

What i have not photoed thats the new stuff thats not finished - An exalted BSB on foot with mark of Tzeentch

what is built 10 knights

dogs are half assembled, MH half assembled
Hellcannon in concept stage
War shrine almost built then needs green stuff

I am probably going to post the hellcannon conversion blog on SAW-C section and finished pics will be on here

I have the weekend to do some modelling and im all excited about this army again so expect some updates over the weekend of work in progress bits - the war shrine is looking cool also.

Ill prolly photo the BSB and get the pictures up over the weekend, he is converted but its a simple conversion

Might paint a unit of knights or start the hell cannon or get the dogs done, might just do all the movement trays - depends how hot it is and what mood im in.

As for cheap discs = no idea im like wayne i just buy stuff... i want that special edition mini on disc they released in europe - i almost paid 80 quid for it on Ebay then came to my senses!

But could always make a disc from large round bases and plasticard and green stuff! if you want it smooth a flying base makes a good disc top

if you are after the rider i have lots spare if you want one we can sort something out

Thanks for the advice and such a comprehensive reply in general :), looking forwards to the hellcannon in saw-c.

Really appreciate the offer, but it was the disc I was after really, however I think i'll put together something of my own, as long as I can get it smooth it shouldn't be too hard.

Out of curiousity what did you run your chosen as set-up wise?
