yeah i know wayne is old school saven, ive had 2 skaven armies and played them since 5th edition but i dislike lack of variety at tournaments i quite like mixing it up
Especially with books seen as 'weaker' than most
i agree with chaos it can be quite a one dimensional army and has to be played a certain way to be competative but i love the models and the mortal background - always hated the daemon armies and the new book annoys me - i mean its not like demons should be all over the old world! quite rare in background demonic armies etc outside realm of chaos. Except the high elf / lizard fluff back in the day
ive just brought an empire army as my next project - Averland or Nuln as my theme not quite settled yet, i was just going to paint them any colours i wanted but after reading the heraldry book and Reiksguard i really want to paint the army in a state colour and theme it (i am going to have the option to filth it for hard tournaments though!) but i want to convert some cavalry and so them similar to my high elves bit a bit more gritty realism and lots of freehand banners etc.
I am not going to convert the models too much just use some of the metal characters and paint the army nicely and a bit of plastic kit bashing.
the entire army is going to be plastic pretty much which lends to easy conversions and with the ammount of time it takes to clean them up i might as well invest a little bit more and make them something special - want each unit to have a story and a theme. I am very tempted to use some of the ideas from the old computer game 'shadow of the horned rat' - Ramon Black and his skavenslayers might come out as my militia since the new skaven book is coming out soon
