bet the new book will be dirt

i love skaven too but will probably leave off doing them as i have a new project on the go and my chaos to finish

plus everyone will be jumping all over them when they come out.

you started reading Grey Seer yet wayne? its pretty good so far although i quite like C.L Werner's books.

Yeah I always have an issue with jumping on the latest book because everyone else is doing it, I'll usually pick one of the older ones when I think about switching instead. Though you could never claim that of someone who's painted 6 skaven armies in his time!

My one biggest hope of the book is that they open up the options. The lizzies army promotes pretty much 2 builds, chaos didn't have that much variety, DE had a few options but lots of no-brainer choices. Daemons has great internal balance... Everything is pretty good. So if the skaven book can create a good horde build, a good shooty build, good monster build, a good plague monk build and have them all relatively equal in power it would be awesome. Though presumably to do that you would then be able to pick the best from each and create an awesome list. Wonder what the creep on magic items allowance/special traits will be with this book.

yeah i know wayne is old school saven, ive had 2 skaven armies and played them since 5th edition but i dislike lack of variety at tournaments i quite like mixing it up

Especially with books seen as 'weaker' than most

i agree with chaos it can be quite a one dimensional army and has to be played a certain way to be competative but i love the models and the mortal background - always hated the daemon armies and the new book annoys me - i mean its not like demons should be all over the old world! quite rare in background demonic armies etc outside realm of chaos. Except the high elf / lizard fluff back in the day

ive just brought an empire army as my next project - Averland or Nuln as my theme not quite settled yet, i was just going to paint them any colours i wanted but after reading the heraldry book and Reiksguard i really want to paint the army in a state colour and theme it (i am going to have the option to filth it for hard tournaments though!) but i want to convert some cavalry and so them similar to my high elves bit a bit more gritty realism and lots of freehand banners etc.

I am not going to convert the models too much just use some of the metal characters and paint the army nicely and a bit of plastic kit bashing.

the entire army is going to be plastic pretty much which lends to easy conversions and with the ammount of time it takes to clean them up i might as well invest a little bit more and make them something special - want each unit to have a story and a theme. I am very tempted to use some of the ideas from the old computer game 'shadow of the horned rat' - Ramon Black and his skavenslayers might come out as my militia since the new skaven book is coming out soon :)

Absolutely awesome. Very inventive conversions. Hope to get to see it close up one day. Good luck with it at Cardiff. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with that..............win/loose/draw, the soft scores will be maxed out .!!!

I remember playing Gareth Hamilton's Hellpit list a few years back, with my fluffy Dwarves, at the WPS GT. Completely hilarious.

simply awesome work

as a long time skaven general it is good to see an army built and painted to such a high standard and not a rattling gun in sight

keep up the great work looking forward to seeing the empire stuff
