Nice paint job Jon. Your mino looks better than the GW ones, but they still look a little chunky for me. Oh well, no pleasing everyone is there :D

Here's some pictures of the shaman, with the sculpting finished.... I'll be honest, I'm not particularly impressed with the robes, it's certainly not my best sculpting work, but it'll do. Take note of the fur on the legs (which i'm very pleased with), the completed mane around the horns, bare chest, sleeves and the cloak and robes, plus the hooves, all of which have been sculpted.

Of course- ignore the couple of semi-painted Gors in the front rank. These were early colour scheme tests, the Gors will be painted the same as the Ungors very soon....

In other news, I've had even more setbacks as far as painting for the campaign goes. Some kind fella from Spain is paying me £120 for the fully painted and converted unit of Harpies, and thats an offer my student bank balance can't refuse...... That means I now have to paint (and build) 18 harpies, rather than the original 8, before the start of the campaign on Sunday! Ouch!

Was looking at these on TWF the other day. Really nice stuff - even the Minotaur looks ok (Thats a compliment!).

Love the Harpies. Wing membranes are awesome.

Good work.

Well, I've been horrendously lazy with updates lately, but I have got a ton done since the last update, which is nice!

15 Ungors are now finished, with the unit filler. Also finished 5 of the raiders too, plus 5 Gors.
I've almost finished the Shaman, but if I'm honesy I'm just not impressed..... The GS job on the robes was poor, and fairly boring with a massive lack of detail. I'll finish painting him and get him out the way, but at some point he may find himself being torn out of that tree and revamped a little.

The banners will also be repainted.... I've changed my mind about the motif I was going to use, the original idea (as you can see on the Ungors) was a dead Oak of Ages (the big tree in Loren) but I don't think it works that well. I might paint it on the Gor banner first just to see, but I'm considered going for a more beastmen style stag skull (and a more crude design, more like cave painting than anything...), which still fits the theme.

Here is a nice army shot and some close ups of the finished new bits. I'm pretty pleased with the look as a whole, and hopefully it actually looks like the army is attacking a forest? Or at least it's starting to look that way. What do you think?

In other news- I'm sick to death of painting white skin.

Jon

Forgot the Harpies..... probably due to the fact I don't own the buggers anymore, but I did slog through the painting of them...

Wow, this stuff is looking really nice Jon.

The white skin really does make this army unike, its worth every stressful moment you may have.

Tha level of painting is really nice, the banners are well blended and the overal lcolour choices for the army look great.

Also, loving the trees in the units

Thanks for the comments mate.
Despite how long it takes, I'm very pleased with the white. I think it looks great in ranked up units, and stands out on the tabletop (dark armies, no matter how well painted, struggle to catch the eye unfortunately...).

As for the colour choices, it was definately worth the 6 or 7 test models I did right at the start of the project. I think I went through 3 different types of skin, 3 different types of fur, 3 different coloured loincloths, plus 2 different combinations of these and a development of the skin to make it nicer once I'd chosen. They took ages, but well worth it to get the scheme right!

Thank you

Dave
