I played Kevin the game after Wayne, agree he was a great fun opponent. And don't worry you've not put him off by taking away his toys, I see his name is on the Sheffield list and Mersey. He had some bad luck against me too, final turn sent hero on peggy, 2 peggy knights and a lance into a block of dwarf warriors with a thane and runepriest, fluffed most of his attacks and the thane chopped up some knights, it all paniced and gave me 400+ pts. Would have been a draw/minor win if it wasn't for that but credit to him on going for it.

Also played Andy Spiers, so seems me and Wayne were swapping opponents, it was his first games of fantasy in 12 months and he'd have been my shout for best opponent of the weekend too. Played his lord of change a bit more canny against me, didn't want to be taking 2 bolt throwers in the face so hid him behind a hill and just threw out magic for most of the game. I really struggled to get any points out of daemons in both games against them. I failled several fear tests on ld9 to charge his horrors and they just shot up my blocks with decent spell rolls.

Enjoyed the show and well done at the tourny.

I was interested in your comments re the forumwarriors.

I often find myself wondering why some poeple play Warhammer - they don't like the rules, they don't like the figures, they don't like White Dwarf, they don't like GW, in fact there is nothing about the hobby that they seem to like ... except perhaps moaning on the internet.

The "interesting one" is when you meet these persons in the flesh they generally do like the figures, rules and to an extent GW. They just like moaning more

I don't quite understand what happens to some people from behind a keyboard

It was a good event id recomend it, Ant worked very hard at the event and tbh it wasn't perfect but what is! i had a great weekend playing toy soldiers and picked up some prizes and improved my ranking score slightly. Had 5 good games against some hard opponenets with hard lists, couldn't really ask for more from a tournament except a podium

Played Lizardmen, Vampires, High Elves, Dark Elves, High Elves

Good Episode guys.

I'd love to hear more on the theory behind the Skaven army though. IMO for the current environment (and that comp) you would want to be taking a Warlord almost all the time due to the Ld. Back him up with 3 engineers, 3 rattling guns, 10+ Jezzails and a bazillion rats and your laughing.

The BSB with the storm banner i'm not sold on, i think the Sacred Standard of the Horned rat is the way to go. The current metagame says you will see not only dragons but plenty of other terror causers like Stegs, Hydras, Wraiths that the Storm banner all has no effect on.

Making the Stormvermin bunker immune to the terror tests and guaranteed to get the charge against fear causers is a big deal.

Stopping the shooting is good but on average it will stop 2 phases. Asking for more than that is relying on dice too much. even with -2 to shoot your gun teams will still get shot off against any elves so you will still need to keep them out of LOS. (or range)

Stopping the flying move for a turn or 2 is tasty but most big nastys still have a high movement value and can still fight off a ranked unit if they get trapped. Yes it can give you a turn before they are threatening you but a good deployment can do the same especially when combined with the threat of your cannon and Jezzails.

This was a great episode, very interesting all the battles you had guys, specially Dan vs Ian's TK.

The whole team did an excellent job at this tournament getting first overall, best painted, etc , so keep it up!

Waiting for the next episode  !

Cheers,

Hi Dan and Wayne

Just finished listening and was another great episode-really enjoy hearing about the tournies and will be trying to get to this event next year. I also liked the mini discussion on "Internet warriors" as the whole forum bashing thing is something I find a bit annoying and something that can be done in private. This particular example of keyboard bravery was really pathetic and could have done some serious damage to what sounded to me from your cast and from the 2 Bens as a good event with just a couple of fixable problems easily ironed out.

Anyway thanks for a couple hours of quality entertainment and looking forward to episode 16.

Cheers
TheRuneLord
